Let It Be is the twelfth and final studio album by the English rock band the Beatles. It was released on 8 May 1970, almost a month after the group's break-up, in tandem with the motion picture of the same name. Like most of the band's previous releases, the album topped record charts in many countries, including both the US and the UK. However, the critical response was generally unfavourable, and Let It Be came to be regarded as one of the most controversial rock albums ever. A single comprising of Get Back and Don't Let Me Down was released in April, 1969 but as The Beatles focussed their energies on a new album mainly recorded at Abbey Road, The Get Back album as it was then called remained unreleased. Once Abbey Road had been issued and the completion of the documentary film now imminent, it was noticed that rehearsals of George's song I Me Mine featured prominently in the film but had not been recorded in the studio. This was remedied on 3rd January, 1970 when George, Paul and Ringo performed it without. A Tribute to the Beatles '69, Vol. 1: Get Back. The Beatles decided they wanted to get back to their roots and just be a band again, says Denny Somach, a rock historian and author of A Walk Down Abbey Road. So, they got back into the studio and recorded live, with the idea of making a documentary about the process. But Let It Be is not without its high points. The majority of the album's 12 songs were written by either John Lennon or Paul McCartney, who were rivals in songwriting and spurred each other on, Freiman says. While we can thank Lennon for the stirring, psychedelic Across the Universe, it was McCartney who wrote the emotional title track, inspired by his late mom. Today is the 50th anniversary of the release of The Beatles final album, Let It Be. You can listen to Let it Be here: https. The whole Let It Be project was really to see work in progress to see the Beatles working. It's been 50 years since the Beatles released their final album, Let It Be. Now, a new film will look back on its making, and the deep divisions that led to the band's breakup. But just how accurately will it portray what really went on. Simply called Get Back, the project is set to be released later this year and, surprise, surprise, there's already a major attempt to recast Let It Be focusing on the positive. Paul McCartney said that when he saw the unreleased footage, his feeling was, It's great. I'm not bullshitting You see this kind of thing, this relationship between me and John, and me and George. You'll get it. The Get Back album was supposed to be released in July 1969, but the Beatles had moved on and wiped their hands clean of the mess. And things were going relatively well on the recording of Abbey Road. The band got along, inspiring each other, just like in the old days. Just like Get Back was supposed to. McCartney hated Let It Be. The other Beatles who had pretty much given up on the project were either indifferent or, in John Lennon s case, satisfied that Spector did his best with the mess he was given. The album hit No. So did the two singles released from it, The Long and Winding Road and the title track. Let It Be is the twelfth and final studio album by English rock band The Beatles, released on 8 May 1970 by Apple Records. Issued almost a month after the band's breakup, it was originally conceived as Get Back, a return to their earlier, less complicated approach to music. Rehearsals began at Twickenham Film Studios in London in January 1969 as part of a planned documentary film showing the Beatles preparing to return to live performance. A project initiated by Paul McCartney, the rehearsals were. The Beatles rejected Johns first Get Back album, and new recording sessions for two Let It Be songs took place on 3 and 4 January 1970 a year after the initial recordings were made. The first of these was for George Harrisons I Me Mine, which had briefly being performed before the cameras during the 1969 sessions. On 5 January 1970, Glyn Johns began assembling a second Get Back album, with the instruction that it should tie in with the songs which appeared in the film. Get Back Ft. Billy Preston Lyrics. About Let It Be. Let It Be is an album released in 1970 by English rock band The Beatles. It is their 12th and final album even though production started before the Abbey Road sessions. Let It Be was an attempt to breathe new life into The Beatles by having them perform together live in the studio rather than record complex arrangements separately and put them together via overdubs. In essence, Paul McCartney wanted them to go back to their roots
