In accordance to Scott Brown's policy in 1997, Twisted Vinyl was mostly converted to another Happy Hardcore label (due to the popularity of Scott's happier material at the time and the decline of Gabber in the UK), but the B-Side was still Gabber, and that is where you'll find the best track on this record. Acid Thunder (not to be confused with the other Acid Thunder by Scott Brown, the owner of Twisted Vinyl and Alan Todd from Q-Tex) is a dark Acidcore track and surprisingly nasty piece of work by Davie Forbes. The track starts with an intro of dark sounds and a thick atmosphere, like you're stuck in the jungle. Eventually Mr Forbes cranks out the TB-303 and uses it on a simple Acid riff but sounds really good, the kickdrum is distinctively Davie Forbes, in between bouncy and Gabber kickdrums. The main synth is quite dark in tone but catchy in design, on top of the riff is Davie Forbes having some fun wibbling and wobbling the 303, overall it's a fantastic mixture of both. In the last breakdown, the TB-303 is playfully stretched out and then bubbles away while there's another nice dark riff playing away. And with a good drum roll, you will hear some of the most intense high end Acid sounds I've ever heard, and I love it! That last part of the track is excellent Acidcore and it annoys me that I have to mix over it because its the end of the song, it does tend to end on a high, which sounds cool but not DJ friendly, but if you start mixing at the end of the last breakdown, you should be fine. One of my favourite Acidcore tracks nicely hidden away on Scott Brown's massive discography and Davie Forbes's most underrated track, it's a shame he didn't continue to make similar music. I have never liked Bodysuckers. Mainly because its cheese, which was endemic of the Happy Hardcore coming out of England at the time. The word Bodysuckers is an odd misinterpretation of the sample, "no more music by these suckers" which is taken from Public Enemy's Bring The Noise. It is entirely possible that the B2 track is the last Hardcore related production by DJ Trevor Reilly.

I've always loved this record, was one of the first I ever bought back in 1997. I always saw the B side as an early freeform track - it's quite trancey (although still dark). You might like the Davie Forbes releases on Uprising Trance - they're from around the same time...not quite as tough as Acid Thunder, more fast hard trance. I think these tunes are really the transition from Davie Forbes the hardcore producer to David Forbes the trance producer.
